my review and comments policy

Although I have been writing this blog for more than two years now, I have never reviewed a food or wine product for a company that asked me. To be honest, I wasn't asked much, and any corporate food emails were and are instantly sent to my spam box. Sorry, Mr. Corporate Food, but I think your 20 million dollar advertising budget should help you win over a few more consumers, not a little old blogger like me who isn't even getting paid to do it.

I am not even one of those food bloggers with "issues" about accepting free food from a company. Traditionally, professional food critics do not accept any free food from restaurants or food companies they are reviewing in an effort to remain objective and unbiased. When it comes to food blogging, especially unpaid food blogging, I believe the rules need to change because the medium and circumstances are different. As a food blogger I do not have a newspaper or magazine paying for the food I cook or eat at a restaurant. As of now, I make no commission off of this blog, so it is not even possible for me to review as many restaurants or food products that a traditional critic would.

I do NOT offer a good review in exchange for free food, but I do offer an honest one, which includes informing my audience of when I receive free food in exchange for a review. I do my best to not let the free-ness of the food cloud my judgment because I am awesome and I care about you eating delicious food. If I lie and say something bad is good, the only person it hurts is you. It's all for you, baby.
