Meet yer third guest host :Cari Sanchez!
Ms. Cari Sanchez: expat and eater extraordinaire

I am particularly stoked to introduce you to this week’s Chicken ‘n Waffles guest host, my friend and fellow gastronomer, Cari Sanchez! A former Ohio/Boston/Argentina/Spain/Japan resident, Cari currently resides in Adelaide, South Australia, where our paths crossed at the University of Adelaide’s Gastronomy program. Oh yeah, and as of January 2009, she will be a resident of Switzerland. Yeah, I sort of hate her too. This was my first attempt at taping a podcast over Skype, that wonderful, free internet phone program. Cari arrived towards the end of my time in South Australia, but I learned quickly that this lady knows how to eat and have a good time. We did everything from exploring the charms of the South Austalian countryside…

It took me a while to convince Cari this was not an offer for food.

to drinking our way through wine regions.

Cari also has an uncanny ability to imitate a cow…if by uncanny you mean she sounds like a cow with a blunt head injury getting pureed in a blender. And let me tell you, it sounds even more like heaven when you have a hangover and are trapped in a car with this noise. Pure. Fricking. Heaven. Here’s a bit more about this week’s special international (but not) guest host: Full Name: Ms. Cari Amanda S nchez Hometown: Salem, Ohio Sign: Taurus Profession: Student My last meal on earth would be: My grandma’s brown gravy with her homemade bread for a starter, followed by a Puerto Rican spread of arroz con gandules, pernil, tostones, mofongo, pastelillos, alcapurrias, and pasteles with a magnum of Chimay Blue. Feed me this food and I’ll kick you: Natto. Stringy, vomit-flavored, rotten-smelling, fermented soy beans? Why, Japan, why? Personal Eating Motto: Just do it. Unless it’s natto. Cari wants you to know: I keep cans of Heinz baked beans in my desk drawer for a snack and when I don’t have a spoon because I’m too lazy to go to the kitchen and grab one, I just open the can and drink the beans like a chunky milkshake. Wow. Did that last bit make anyone vomit in their mouth a bit, too? Such is the pleasure of Cari Sanchez. I hope you enjoy her as much as I do! ~LTG
