Gastro Friday: DIY Chocolate Bar!

Gastro Friday: DIY Chocolate Bar! Don’t you think there isn’t NEARLY enough decadent, self-indulgent candy world? A German startup called Chocri thinks so, and are offering a create-your-own-chocolate bar the likes of which have never been seen. You start by going to createmyownchocolate.com, entering in what kind of chocolate and other goodies you’d like to have in your candy bar. The categories to choose from include fruit, nuts, spices, confections, decor and grains. And frankly, any company that classifies bacon as a grain is okay by me. The kicker is price tag. An average candy bar creation is around $13, and tack on an additional $6 or so for shipping, and you got yourself a $19 candy bar. So clearly, this isn’t for the poor, or even for the candy lovers at heart–this is for people for have an innate desire to control what goes in their candy, and who enjoy gourmet candy products. But if you’ve really been craving a white chocolate candy bar filled with gummy bears, this is the place to do it. I’m sure every other media outlet has already talked about their popular flavors, so let’s explore some of the more untraditional candy bar fillings they offer, shall we? Chives Coriander seed Caraway seed Volcano Spicy Cashew Wasabi peanuts Gummy bears Sizzle Rocks Real gold flakes Edible silver pearls bacon Candied lilac cinnamon cornflakes Organic spelt flakes Edible flower mix What do you think? Would you pay between $15 and $20 to have a custom-made German chocolate bar with familiar or crazy ingredients? Read more about it here and here. ~LTG!
