Research presented by psychology-focused blog, Mindblog, reveals interesting links between how people eat and portion size. Basically, people who cannot see the food they eat (bc they are watching tv, working, it is dark etc.) tend to overeat, whereas people who can see the portion size use that size to gauge how full they are. So the lesson learned—literally, watch what you eat! Pay attention and lose weight.
