Leena Eats: Vedas Indian restaurant in Milpitas, CA.

By on Dec 22, 2010 in California, East Bay, Food Porn, Leena Eats, With Friends | 0 comments

I joined a friend to review an East Bay Indian restaurant, and this is the food porn from that event. Vedas restaurant tries to come off as more than just your average Indian restaurant with their modern Indian decor and slightly modern food plating. For me, most dishes were either hit or miss. Check out my opinion and food porn after the click. I probably won’t be returning any time soon to Vedas restaurant. ~LTG! *********************************** Vedas restaurant 560 N. Leena Eats: The Big Cheese Penis, Day Two (Chez Panisse)

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chez Panisse Cafe, and not nearly a week later, I was invited to go try the restaurant downstairs out with new friends. What are the differences, you may ask? Well, the cafe is upstairs, less formal, and has an a la carte menu. The restaurant is downstairs, more formal, and has a set four course meal the chef changes daily. Cafe more affordable, restaurant more expensive. The first course of the evening was awesome—a refreshing and light tomato salad with ricotta salata and cucumbers. The tomatoes were juicy and tasted as only a tomato can taste in season, at it’s ripest, simply perfect. The salad had a cooling effect, which was great, especially considering that Berkeley was having a freakishly and untypically hot 100 degree F evening. More food porn and info on the meal and sticking to seats after the jump. I wish the weather...

Gastro Friday: German Cannibal Restaurant

A new restaurant is set to open in Berlin that features human meat called Flime. But even more shocking are the ads they put out for “members” to “donate” body parts as long as they submit medical records. The restaurant will even pay for your hospitalization! The restaurant has also put ads out for an “open-minded surgeon”. Whoa. More on this German Cannibal restaurant after the jump. Apparently (and obviously) the restaurant has caused an uproar, especially since a Berliner was murdered by a cannibal not long ago. But according to Brazilian Waricaca tribe as inspiration for the so-called “Wari cuisine.” According to the Guardian, the tribe “once practiced the ritual of ‘compassionate cannibalism,’ or eating parts of the corpse of a loved one to emphasize the connection between the living and the dead.” What do...

Several restaurants across the country have started using I-Pads as wine lists to assist and educate consumers about wine as they shop. Amuse bouche: A No Noisy Children-Restaurant?

Owner Brenda Armes of the Carolina Beach restaurant, Olde Salty, has no tolerance for children throwing tantrums. She’s posted signs in her restaurant warning patrons that “Screaming Children Will Not Be Tolerated.” but that doesn’t mean you’ll be kicked out. You’ll just be asked to take your child outside of the restaurant until they calm down so as not to disturb other patrons. Some parents have been very offended by it, but overall, Armes says it has encouraged more customers than discouraged. Source: September 8, 2010 Slate article *************** Amuse Bouche: Noun.
