The long awaited day has finally arrived…we got a barbecue! We are officially quasi-Aussies! It is a nice if not short charcoal grill, brand new and now living on our balcony. No more will I have to smell amazing meats from my neighbor’s barbie…I can just fire up my own and make them jealous!

Look how cool the coals look at night, all glowing and such. It’s like they are screaming, throw some meat on me now! Will do! Our first official meal… what else? Snags on grilled dags with some balsamic asparagus and mushrooms. Okay, so MAYBE I ate this two days in a row… and MAYBE it hurt my sensitive tummy… but some pains are just worth it. Shhh… & don?t tell my apartment building… they only approve gas grills but c’mon! Where’s the fun and flavor in that? Charcoal all the way, baby. Throw another snag on the barbie, Adelaide!

    Smokin’!
Way to go. I won’t tell your apartment, but your apartment will probably find out.
(This Yank wonders what are snags on dags.)

Thanks for the comment, cookiecrumb. Snags are Australian slang for sausages, and on the dag means they eat it diagonally on white bread. Nothing fancy, but it sure tastes amazing, especially when the sausage gets all charred. I have a previous post about it, check it out here.
And you know what? I don’t think the apartment owners will find out. Because I am THAT good at being a culinary rebel:) Plus, we’ve seen several other charcoal grills around the old complex, including our downstairs neighbor. Rebels, all of us!
