Butter poached lobster with artichoke bisque at Chez Spencer ($25 USD). This was ok...the lobster was a bit chewy, and the flavors a bit muddled.
Chez Spencer is as French as it gets in San Francisco. Pros- I liked their foie. Cons– Seemed to have the exact same menu for two years running.
More food porn after the jump.

Smoked duck breast "a la Lyonnaise" with poached eggs and lardons ($16 USD). Easily the best dish of the evening, so smoky and bacon-y!

Foie Gras au Torchon, Vanilla-scented blackberry, pain de campagne ($19 USD). Another great dish. I seemed to really like the appetizers at Chez Spencer.

Red beet salad with Point Reyes Blue Cheese and Candied Walnuts ($10 USD). This was just ok...personally, I prefer my beets pickled.

Wood roasted sturgeon with honjimeji, pommes crisp and sauce Bearnaise ($30 USD). I felt like for such a light fish like sturgeon, this Bearnaise, while classically French, was overwhelming to the palate.

Wood seared venison tenderloin with jabron potato and juniper berry-peppercorn jus ($30 USD). This was probably my favorite main, The meat was cooked perfectly and had a good flavor, not too gamey at all.

Hazelnut Parfait "a la Neige" ($8 USD). Like a giant light fluffy marshmallow on top of hazelnut ice cream and topped with caramel. SO good.
For the price, nothing really wowed me or made me want to go back. That being said, for drinks and appetizers, I would highly recommend this place.
