Chaya Brasserie: where French meets Japanese meets Bay Area.
More food porn after the jump!
The appetizers:
Crispy Dungeness crab cake with mango-cherry salsa, piquillo pepper coulis and coriander oil at Chaya Brasserie, $16 USD. Great contrast of textures and flavors, but wish there was more.
The Rainbow sushi roll: Spicy tuna and snow crab, cucumber and topped with tuna and avocado, $15.50 USD. Chaya has super fresh fish, and this roll was tasty. I’m a sucker for spicy tuna rolls.
Kaffir-lime scented seafood chowder with lobster, shrimp, calamari, mussels, & fish, $12 USD. So fragrant, almost like a good Thai soup! Loved this one.
Mains:
Grilled California lamb chop with roasted lamb loin with baked parmentier and rosemary lamb jus, $34 USD. Hot damn, this was some good lamb! Juicy, perfectly cooked, and so umami, you just want to roll around on the plate with your mouth open. No? Just Me? Ah well.
Crispy Yellow-skinned tuna with onion marmalade, $29 USD. Interesting texture, great fish.
Filet Mignon Rossini with potato-filled soba crepe and foie gras, $39 USD. Um, filet mignon and foie. What’s NOT to like?
A fish that is no longer on the menu and escapes my memory at the moment. But look–isn’t it pretty to look at?
And who could forget desserts?!
Chaya’s famous milk chocolate croissant bread pudding with caramel ice cream. Yeah. Trying moving after eating THIS bad boy.
Chocolate mousse…I think…It was good, though!
Chaya-Expensive, but delicious, and with gorgeous views of the Bay!
