So remember that guy I married? Well, he loves me so much, he took me to eat a whole cow and a cake in a can in celebration of our third wedding anniversary. Some say the third anniversary is the leather anniversary, but my husband knows better: it’s the gluttony anniversary. And really, shouldn’t they ALL be? We headed over to The James Hotel downtown, home of David Burke’s Primehouse, a contemporary American steakhouse. As the story goes, Burke was so obsessed with the quality of food coming into his restaurant, he got his own bull known as Prime, a 2500 pound Black Angus bull, to make little Prime baby cows that taste like the best beef on the face of the planet smeared in bacon. There is even an on-site Himalayan salt dry aging room! And shrimp the size of sea-elephants! So, in honor of this massive meal that put me into the food coma of the year, few words and heaps of food pron. Get excited.

Dessert So at the beginning of the meal, my husband told me we had to order the red velvet cake in a can (he had been to the restaurant before), and because it was baked fresh, we had to order it before the meal. This dessert feeds six. And my husband encouraged me to order it. Words cannot describe the love I felt for him at that moment! So, ten minutes before the dessert arrives, this comes to the table…
And then ten minutes later…
Overall, a quite kick-ass, special, once a year sort of meal. ~LTG! *************************************************************** David Burke’s Primehouse 616 N. Rush Street Chicago, IL 60611 312-660-6000 David Burke’s Primehouse Website
