As much as I love–LOVE–bacon, I also appreciate a properly made vegetarian meal. Nothing can compare when a meal with healthy ingredients tastes so delicious, you don’t even miss the meat, and you are doing your body a favor. The problem is, not very many people know how to do this. Ethiopians do. Middle Easterners do. And apparently? So does Chicago. I met up with an old friend for some delicious vego food at The Handlebar. Check it out. I had the sandwich shown above, the Green Meanie, which had some herbed goat cheese, a whole host of veggies including sprouts and avocado, and I believe honey mustard dressing. One of the best veggie sandwiches I have ever had. It came with soup, and the day I went was a cold, rainy Chicago summer day. So the carrot and saffron soup, which was deliciously subtle, hit the spot and warmed me up. I heart this sandwich n soup. My dining mate went with a veggie burrito w/ seitan chorizo (which I have had before, and actually tastes decent).
He was very satisfied with this hearty meal, and proclaimed the chorizo to be some of the best he has ever had. Seriously. Go here. SO GOOD. Anyone want to join me next time? ~LTG! *********************** Handlebar 2311 W. North Ave. Chicago, IL 60647 (773) 384-9546 www.handlebarchicago.com
