And the list goes on.

7 days till we move to Australia, and I am starting to realize that we may not even finish our top 25 foods in Chicago list. But I won?t go down without a fight. Number nine was a strawberry filled empanada from Isabella Bakery (1659 West Foster Avenue in Chicago). Okay, once again, it was technically for their cappuccino, but the article said the real reason the cappuccino is so good is the strawberry empanada. I was on my way to one of my partner in chunk?s house, and I decided to surprise him with the Guatemalan pastries. They?re a steal at only $1 each and they taste like giant strawberry Newton cookies. Pretty freaking amazing. Their dough is soft but a little crisp on the outside with a hint of glaze, and the filling is just enough to highlight the dough. Their pineapple empanada was also good, and the apple was kicked butt with a lot of cinnamon. Needless to say, number nine was checked off the list with happiness. And this is where the real problem with finishing the list comes in. It was so good, I went back for seconds. And thirds. Who can finish a list when some of it is so good; you want it over and over again? ~LTG

And the list goes on.

Uhm, yeah, this serves primarily to echo
Leena’s sentiment on the empanadas. As her
partner in chunk, I feel I am in a position
to add authority to this post. Those
    empanadas were the SH*T, son.

I must say, I'm quite ecstatic to see your response to my uncle's confections! His english is a bit broken, so I serve as his envoy to this giant scary internet thing.

I am here however, to formally ask you if I'd be allowed to use your blog entry as positive press to display in his store. If you feel uncomfortable with this notion, that'll be alright, I'll just take Timeout's and Citysearch's comments (without even asking them!) to give to my uncle.

There's not really anything in the way of compensation for you, other than exposure for your blog, but hey, that's worth something, right?

Write me back what you think.

    David
