U.S. Food Blog Survey Results!
A few months ago, I put up a survey about US food blog users as part of the research for my dissertation to earn an MA in gastronomy. You might remember the survey from such great posts as this one and this one.
Well, I have officially finished the dissertation and am currently awaiting my grade. I moved from Australia back to Chicago, and now that I am settled in the city of wind and hot dogs, I wanted to share my findings from the survey. Below you will find a link, just click on it and it will take you to my official press release for the survey.
Please feel free to leave questions or comments about the survey on this post, because I would love to hear them. As a food lover, writer and blogger, this topic is near and dear to my heart and I honestly believe the food community is one of the most tightly knit, interesting and supportive communities out there. My hope is this work will inspire more research into the field of food blogs and more dialogue about the topic.
Leena's U.S. Food Blog Survey Results
Thank you once again to the many food bloggers who helped drive more traffic to the survey, and to all of you who took the survey. I couldn't have done this without your help.

Since I check your blog once a day, I wanted to let you know that I really enjoy your writing, and as your dissertation suggested, reading your blog made me read others food blogs and I started reading the NYtimes food section even though I live no where near anyone who posts reviews of restaurants.
Thanks for enabling my procrastination of my dissertation!
Additionally- I have sent your blog address to a lady from Alabama that just moved to Adelaide. Finally, Frioli was supposed to tell you, in person, that I give your blog a thumbs up.
This is one of the few, or only studies, that is comparing online and traditional print. While many magazines have dug their heels in and think blogs are the enemy, your research is showing there is a good, symbiotic relationship
congratulations!
Ms. Klinger~Thank you very much! I would just like to say how incredibly jealous I am that you are living and working in Italy. It is one of my dream places to live!
Tyler~ I am humbled, good sir, by your presence on my little blog. I have never had a Tyler comment before, only Amanda! And, I also do not fall in the "affluent" category, but I think what we lack in money, we make up for in class. Thanks for stopping by!
Being a reluctant technocrat myself, I enjoyed having some numbers to go by. And, as always, it was done with grace and style one can expect from a Trivedi.

these are very interesting statistics indeed. I'm a statistics student, and I was wondering if you would consider releasing the raw data for further analysis?

What an outstanding job on your research project and what great results - and I enjoyed responding to the survey, too. I was even more excited to have just read your bio - it's great to see another Bradley communications alum in the culinary industry!

Daniel~ Thanks for checking out the survey. At this time, my dissertation is still under review by the university, so I do not anticipate releasing any raw data any time soon.
Chili Sue~ Thank you very much! While I do not claim that the survey covers all the issues in the world of food blogs, I do feel it is a step in the right direction.
Gina~ Hello, fellow BU and Le Cordon Bleu alum! How random that we were both com majors and went on to the world of food. Thanks for your comments!
jancd~ I advertised my survey on ten different food blogs around the U.S., including well-known food blogs like Ruhlman and Becks and Posh, as well as a few lesser known food blogs. Out of 1800 participants, 7%, or roughly 140 were over the age of 55. My results did not say ONLY younger women read food blogs, it said a majority of food blog readers that took my survey were younger. I hope that answers your question, and thanks for stopping by.
Tracy~ Okay, seriously? I'm blushing. Can I just put you in my office and have you there as my own personal cheerleader? I can pay you in bacon and crudely drawn pictures of Gary Coleman. Let me know.
I just found out about the symposium, and at the very least, I am going to submit my dissertation. I sincerely hoped I get picked to speak, but either way, it should be a great conference. Thanks for reminding me about it and for all the nice compliments!
