We did it! We finally ate at the first place out of the top 25 foods in Chicago, which means we are well on our way to meeting our goal!
Remember, we have eaten at four places already, and since we are poor and about to move across the world, those four count as our top 25. So this last good eat makes a hearty #5 on our list.
Pequod's Pizza with caramelized crust. Wow. Good stuff. We got a pepperoni pan pizza, and it was crunchy on the edges and soft in the middle, like Pizza Hut's pan pizza, but better. Instead of a huge thick crust, there was this almost black crust all the way around, it looked like over caramelized parmesan cheese (I'll post pics later). The technical name for it is nummy goodness. And man, we were rolling in nummy goodness. The sauce was a typical red sweet sauce, and the only down side was the shear amount of pepperoni on the pizza. Pepperoni covered every square inch of the stuff, and I like pepperoni as much as the next guy, but this was almost overkill. Thankfully, they put it on top of the cheese, which made a rare phenomenon occur that I like to call bacon pepperoni. That is when the oven gets the pepperoni so crispy it almost tastes like bacon. Good stuff.
This pizza even tasted good reheated, and the best part is, their slices are huge, so one could easily be dinner, but I did two and half, you know, just to be sure.
5 down, 20 to go. Giddyup!
