Amuse bouche: How did cookies come to the U.S.?

The recipe for cookies is an ancient one dating back to Egyptian pharoahs, but cookies were brought to the United States in the 1600s by early English and Dutch immigrants. Cookies were most popular in the original Dutch colony of New Amsterdam (now New York City), which later became the nation’s first capital, and helped spread cookie love around the country.
