Amuse bouche: Where do chocolate chip cookies come from?

The original chocolate chip cookie recipe was created in the 1930s by the owner of the Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts, abd was called “Toll House Chocolate Crunch Cookie”. This was before chocolate chips were invented, and the recipe called for chopping up Nestle semisweet chocolate very small. When the recipe caused sales of the chocolate to soar, Nestle first started selling chocolate bars with a small chopper, and later invented the semisweet chocolate morsels we know as chips today.
