Leena Eats: Food Porn

Leena Eats: Food Porn

Ahoy there! I am in the midst of finishing a research paper and wrapping up my life before moving to San Francisco this week. I am so tired, I tried throw away some Pixy Stick wrappers…on my cat. She is still licking out the leftover dust. So I thought I would tantalize you with a bit of food porn. Read the rest of this entry »

Gastro Fridays: More cans

A little photo update on my pretty canning collection for ’09.

Gastro Fridays: More cans
I think I might like to can a bit.

Recent additions include a spicy apple cranberry chutney, cranberry sauce w/ port, pickled jalapenos made with peppers my parents grew and my five-spice ketchup.

Gastro Fridays: More cans
I’m like an old cat lady, only with cans.

I also got some killer organic heirloom hot peppers from Jennifer, my Harvest Moon CSA lady. Hot pepper jelly, anyone?

Gastro Fridays: More cans
You are totally checking out my cans. Nice, huh?

It is official. I may never need to buy another condiment again. Ever. Happy friday! ~LTG! ******************************* Other related articles I found on the Internets: NY Times article This article makes me feel less like a senior citizen and more like a part of the “modern renaissance of handcrafted food.” Damn straight, bitches. Leena Eats:An entire cow at David Burke’s Primehouse

Leena Eats:An entire cow at David Burkes Primehouse
Classic shrimp cocktail w/ ginger sauce and cocktail sauce @ David Burke’s Primehouse, $16 USD. Love. Shrimp. COCKTAIL! Especially when the shrimp are the size of small elephants. Mmm. Sea-elephants.

So remember that guy I married? Well, he loves me so much, he took me to eat a whole cow and a cake in a can in celebration of our third wedding anniversary. Some say the third anniversary is the leather anniversary, but my husband knows better: it’s the gluttony anniversary. And really, shouldn’t they ALL be? Read the rest of this entry »

Leena Cooks n Cans: Kick-Ass Five Spice Ketchup

Leena Cooks n Cans: Kick Ass Five Spice Ketchup
My awesomeness has spread to condiments. French fries, look the ef out.

5000 words about food written by me is due soon to someone else. So I thought this might be a good time to make and can ketchup for the first time. (It is also a good time to clean the house, reorganize the spice drawer, label all my homemade canned goods–including illustrations, you know, in case I ever suddenly forget how to read…)

Leena Cooks n Cans: Kick Ass Five Spice Ketchup

Leena Eats: Drowning in a Sea of Pixy Stick Wrappers and Moving Boxes

Leena Eats: Drowning in a Sea of Pixy Stick Wrappers and Moving Boxes
A graveyard of Pixy Stick wrappers atop of a fallen star,Gourmet Magazine. Seriously, how sad is it that I can’t read in print Ruth Reichl every month?!

Hey there. I’m still alive and kicking, although not posting. My bad. I’ve been busy…eating Pixy Sticks…and maaaaaaaybe procrastinating a massive research paper that is due soon and that I’ve known about for, oh, 7 months now. And it’s not even like I don’t have a million things to talk about. Like my “things wrapped in bacon” party. And how much Blog Her Food 2009 and my trip to San Francisco kicked major ass. For reals. I apparently took 27 pages of notes during the one day conference! But then San Francisco was a bitch and gave me the worst flu EVER, which put me out of comission for eleven days straight.
